KaysK9s Custom Needle Felted Miniature Dogs

Needlefelteddog I first read about needle felting in a dog magazine. Basically, you take fibers, like wool, and "push" and "punch" them using a special felting needle. The result is the wool "felts" and sticks to itself, and becomes a wonderful material for sculpting.

KaysK9s uses this needle felting technique to make adorable miniature dog sculptures. She works directly from pictures of your dog, and includes details right down to individual spots and markings. She can make them teeny-tiny at 4" tall, or itsy-bitsy at 1" tall. They take about 25 hours to create, and asks for 3 - 6 weeks to produce your order. Oh, and she even includes a little accessory like a tiny toy, collar, or bowl.

These things are so freaking cute.

Excuse me for a moment.

* OMG SQUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!*

Okay, I'm back now. Just had to get that out of my system.

Erwin Pearl Dog Pins

Erwinpearldogpin Okay, this is more for you than it is for your dog. Unless your dog likes brooches. And even if you dog likes brooches, we wouldn't recommend you pin one on them. Ouch. These are hand-painted French enamel pins in the likeness of over 50 breeds from Erwin Pearl. Do they make a Keeshond pin? Why, no they don't, thanks for asking (why don't these people understand you could basically repaint the Pomeranian and voila! Keeshond!?) In any case, these are cute and refined, and would look good on your, um, Hermes scarf or something.

I can't believe they don't have a Keeshond.

Onion Dog Light

Oniondoglight Onion is a miniature bull terrier who is clearly adored by her owner, Sarah, so much so she has been immortalized as a lamp! The Onion Dog Light is, of course, made in the likeness of its namesake (you lucky, lucky bull terrier owners) and comes in Classic White, Ruby Red, Sugar Pink and Citrus Orange. They make great night lights or add style to any dark corner. Of course, I'll be waiting for the Bliss Lamp. I'm sure that's coming up soon, right Sarah?

Dog Breed Ornament

Keeshonddogornament I know I already posted a dog breed ornament, but I just came across these and found them adorable. And, as always, extra points for including the Keeshond. These are wooden, hand-painted, look kind of folksy, and there are lots of breeds available. I don't like a lot of the Keeshond stuff they have out there (sometimes they look kind of squat and weird), but this is a really good representation of what Bliss looks like when she wants a cookie.

Dog Breed Christmas Ornaments

Dogbreedchristmasornament That Christmas tree is going up next week. I promise. Somehow, some way, we will haul a real tree up the narrow stairs of our flat and find a place in our crowded living quarters. And on that tree will be a Keeshond ornament. You know why? Because 1 Cute Pooch makes Christmas tree ornaments in the likenesses of over 100 dog breeds. And, as I've often said before, you include a Keeshond in your wares and you make me happy.

Dog Leash Hook

Dogleashhookkeeshondb Okay, this wasn't exactly the iron hook I was talking about, but look! A leash hook with your favorite breed on it!

The picture is a little misleading... take a look at the lower right corner. That's what the leash hook looks like. The 16-gauge, rust-resistant metal has the phrase, "Time for a Walk" along with the silhouette of your preferred pup. It's sealed with black acrylic enamel, and comes equipped with two pre-drilled holes for mounting. Which is great for me, because, although I played the welder-turned-dancer in Flashdance, I can't actually metalsmith. Hardware is not included.

Of course, extra-super-duper points for featuring a Keeshond.

The Pet Set

Pomeraniancard_detail You know, it would be really easy to produce a line of inferior stationery featuring dog breeds and capitalizing on the fact that breed fanatics will snap up anything you produce. The Pet Set doesn't go that route. Their line of appealing, quality paper products will make you want to acquire a set even if your breed isn't represented (I'd like to request a Keeshond, please!).

Kim Banks, the founder of The Pet Set, takes pride in using fine paper and a talented illustrator (Colleen M. Green of GreenFrog Graphics) to create elegant creations you would be proud to send. Invitations, thank-you cards, correspondence stationery and all sorts of writing paper needs are represented here, all gorgeous and drool-worthy. Whether they cause you or your pooch to drool it's hard to say.

Gianna Rose Pet Lovers Soaps

WestieOhhhhhhhhhh. I've been in love with Gianna Rose Atelier soaps for a while and just now stumbled across these gorgeous creations. Available in Westie, Daschund, Maltese, Poodle, Pug, and the Scottie (the dog that inspired the collection), these beautifully detailed soaps are as delightful to smell as they are to behold.

The Westie comes scented with vanilla, melon, passion fruit and rose, with other fragrances accompanying the other breeds, including linen, jasmine, and mango. The box they come in is equally as appealing, with elegant patterns and grosgrain ribbons to set off the designs.

All of their soaps are vegetable-based, mild, and triple-milled, in case you actually wanted to use them. But if you could bring yourself to watch these cute little faces melt away, I don't want to know you.

(Dear Ms. Atelier: Patiently awaiting the Keeshond soap. I think it should smell like tulips and cookies.)

The Pure Breed Revolution!

Pug_pilot When the pugs or Italian greyhounds or cairn terriers take over the world, will you be spared? Obey your purebreed and you will have a place among the four-footed when the revolution takes place.

Kevin McCormick creates powerful, heroic images of purebred dogs in all their propagandic (yes it's a word, I just made it up) glory. Featured as poster prints and on t-shirts, mugs, sweatshirts, and other consumables, these images of our valiant canine comrades are beautifully well designed and depict more than 30 breeds (but no Keeshond... what's up with that, Kevin?).

Viva la revolution!
